100th Day of School Project

Hadley wanted to make something unique for her 100th day of school project. I took her to to the craft store to look around for some ideas and she decided that she wanted to make  a butterfly stepping stone with 100 gems.  She was so excited to get started and she wanted to do it all by herself. I think her 100 day project looks fantastic and she did a great job!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I hope that everyone is having a fabulous Valentine’s Day!

To be honest I am not a very  romantic person. I told Reggie not to waste any money on flowers or a sappy card. I’m not sure why, but Valentine’s day has never meant much to me and I have never been very romantic… or at least not in the Hallmark sense. I love my husband and I love the everyday things that he does to give me butterflies, but cards and flowers on a silly day is just not me. This is not to say that we do not enjoy romantic moments but the ones that I love are the times that it comes naturally and it is not forced or faked.

Instead of flowers and a sappy card I got a very funny and inappropriate card (which I loved), a lens kit for my iPhone and tickets for a date with my Dad to go see Jimmy Buffet in concert. My husband rocks and he makes me incredibly happy!

On Valentine’s Day we like to spoil our girls. They woke up this morning to a few sweet gifts and chocolate. For breakfast their Daddy got them pink donuts and vanilla steamers. For lunch I brought them Erik’s Deli to school and I attended their classroom parties. Tonight we had Grandma over for dinner and we made yummy chocolate fondue!

Valentine’s Day Tic Tac Covers

Oh Simple Sunday!

We spent our Sunday making Kinley and Hadley’s school Valentine’s. It was a real family affair, even Reggie helped out. Actually he was a HUGE help! I just love this man so much. We had a really good time doing this project together and we are all really happy with how they turned out!

Love God | by Kinley

This morning I found this piece of paper on the kitchen counter that Kinley had written. Words truly escape me as I try to express how I feel about this sweet little girl that God has blessed my life with. Kinley is an amazing little soul. Although she comes across as quiet and shy to most she is actually quit complex in so many ways. Kinley has wisdom beyond her years. She is able to express herself and her feelings in writing and to those that she feels close to.

Kinley is passionate about her relationship with Jesus and she very much wants to please him. Kinley’s love for God is her choice and to believe in him and to have faith is completely up to her. Although our children are raised in a Christian home I always want them to be able to make their own choices and I want their love for God to be real. It warms my heart to read her writings. She loves to write and has several journals. Many of her entries are about God but many are just imaginary stories that she makes up. I asked Kinley if she copied this from something and she said “No Mommy, I wrote it”.

Kinley loves to write and she has been asking me to get her a vintage typewriter. I keep telling her that she should use her Apple computer that she got for Christmas but she is not interested, she really wants an old fashioned typewriter. Her daddy and I are so very fascinated by her and we are so  proud to have her as our daughter!
