I am totally procrastinating today!

How many stupid things can I do with my iPhone before I actually get some work done…

These photos are so pretty, I’m sure that my husband will be really impressed!

Pretty Pinterest Friday

I am a tad bit addicted to Pinterest, I waste lots of time there!

There are so many great ideas from DIY projects, decorating, quotes, parties etc.
It is a great place to get ideas and inspiration.

One Year Later | The good, the bad & the ugly!

A year ago today I took on the challenge to reduce refined sugar from my diet and, I will admit, it has been quiet the battle for me.  As of today, I still love and crave sugar, regardless of how many books say that if you maintain clean eating habits you will no longer crave sugar…Ha! I’m sure that has worked for some, but it certainly does not apply to me. My love for all things sweet is still alive and well, thank you very much.

So where exactly am I in this quest? Well, I am still reducing refined sugar from my diet but I will admit that the holiday season was not easyit was challenging… Okay, I totally blew it! I pretty much ate whatever I wanted during the month of December. Yep, I fell off the healthy train entirely! Lucky for me I did not gain my weight back. I continued to exercise regularly so I guess that is what helped me to maintain my weight loss. YAY!

Today I am in a different place than I was a year ago, a lot has changed and some old habits have crept back and I am working on that. I continue down this road to make a permanent lifestyle change for my health and for my body. I struggle daily to maintain my healthy eating habits. There are those days where I just want a grilled cheese sandwich with french fries and a chocolate shake, YUMM!!

However, I am determined to not give up. I will continue to reduce my sugar intake and make better choices.  I have not had a latte from Starbucks for  a year now and I honestly do not miss it, YAY for me! I am a big green tea drinker now and I am totally happy with that. Green tea is awesome for you, it boots your metabolism, fights cancer, promotes healthy skin etc. My biggest challenge is chocolate so I do not deprive myself from it as that only makes me want it more. I allow myself to have a little as I believe that restrictive diets are a recipe for failure!

Working out has been the easiest part for me. I love the way that it makes me feel and I love the changes that it creates. Now that I have lost over 20 pounds my goal is to work on sculpting and toning my body. I love doing strength training with weights and I love the results that I get from it, not only do you burn fat but you get muscle definition and you can see and feel the changes. Nothing feels better than to look in the mirror to see your flabby arms turning into muscle 🙂

This journey has started me down a path that is growing in other aspects of my life. Not only are we looking at the labels of what we buy at the grocery store and making more educated food choices we have also changed many of our household products such as shampoos, make-up, body wash, detergent, soaps, mouth wash etc. I am very determined to get all of the toxic chemicals out of our home. I am choosing to buy products that are Sulfate Free, Paraben Free, Phthalate Free, Petrochemical Free. I still have yet to find a deodorant that I find acceptable so I am still using an antiperspirant with aluminium in it as I am just not okay with smelling stinky! If you have found a good one that actually works please let me know!

Yay for the Sunshine!

The weather has been amazingly beautiful this week! My girls and I tried to soak up all of the sunshine that we could as I know that it is not going to last for too long, it is winter time after all. Below are a few more photos from our afternoon walk in the sun.
