Dining Room Makeover

Out with the red, in with the green!

I have been wanting to get rid of the red paint in our dining room for a long time. I was feeling tired of the harshness of it and I wanted something that would be softer and more inviting. After going back and forth on different paint colors for weeks I finally choose a pretty green.

I let Kinley and Hadley help me paint and we had a lot of fun. Since we have hardwood floors I was not too worried about the paint splatters since it comes right off. I am actually messier than my girls are.:)

Paint Color: Bher Ryegrass

Make Your Own Pizza Dinner Party

Last night we had our friends over for dinner. When I was planning the menu I wanted to do something that would be adult and kid friendly which always seems to be a challenge for me. I was trying to avoid taking the easy way out of it by ordering pizzas again so I came up with a better plan.

The menu that I came up with was a “Create Your own Pizza”. This was a fun way to interact with our guests and have fun. I ordered the dough from a local pizza place which made it very easy. I put out lots of pizza toppings such as pepperoni, pineapple, olives, ham, artichoke hearts, jalapenos, green peppers, mushrooms etc. Everyone made their own individual pizza and shaped it however they wanted. This was so much fun and I highly recommend this for a small dinner party!

The Menu:
Pizza
Salad

Appetizers:
Parmesan Breaded Artichoke Hearts
Marinara Cream Cheese Dip
Antipasto Platter

I LOVE fried artichoke hearts so I wanted to try a baked version of something similar. I was so happy with how this recipe came out. I never measure and I do things pretty haphazardly in the kitchen but I am going to do my best to give you this recipe because it was so YUMMY. I also made a  marinara Cream Cheese Dip that was perfect for dipping the artichoke hearts and sliced french bread into.
{See recipes below}

Parmesan Breaded Artichoke Hearts

3-4 Cans Quartered Artichoke Hearts
(I used 2 bags of frozen artichoke hearts from trader Joe’s)
1 Cup of Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs
1/2 Cup of Parmesan Cheese
1 Teaspoon of  Minced Garlic (optional)
4-6 Tablespoons of Italian Salad Dressing

Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl.
Spray a Cookie Sheet with Oil
Put on Cookie Sheet

Bake on 350 Degrees for 20 Minutes
Broil for 5 Minutes

{the measurements for this dish are my guesstimates, I never measure}

Marinara Cream Cheese Dip

1 Package of Cream Cheese, softened
1 Jar of your favorite Spaghetti Sauce
1 Cup Of your Favorite Grated Cheese
2 Tablespoon of Sliced Olives

Spread cream cheese into a baking dish. I used my pie baking dish.
Spread the cream cheese on the bottom of the dish.
Pour the Marinara Sauce on the top.
Sprinkle with Cheese and Olives.

Bake on 350 for 15-20 minutes

(I think that the dish would also taste amazing if you replaced the cream cheese for Ricotta Cheese or Cottage Cheese)

*Serve with  Parmesan Breaded Artichoke Hearts & Sliced French Bread.

9 Years.

9 years and our marriage is stronger than ever!

This week Reggie and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. I cannot believe how lucky I got in the husband department. Reggie is truly an amazing man. He is a wonderful husband and father and his friendship means the world to me. I do not mean to boast and brag but I am really in love with him and I value what he brings to our family more than I could ever express into words. I married a man of character, and a man who never fails to be there for our family. My husband is my best friend and we share everything with each other. The closeness that we have is something that I treasure every single day.

Since I like to share a photo with all my post I have added some images from my cell phone that I took on the evening of our anniversary. We took our girls with us to celebrate at La Fondue. Even though we had both of my parents offer to babysit for us we really wanted to have our sweet daughters there with us!

I am thankful to the Lord each day for the gift that God gave us, for our marriage,  for our frienship and for our family.

Reg, you still give me butterflies and I would choose you over and over again, it would be you every time!
I cannot wait until our 10 year when we renew our vows in Pismo with our family & friends!!

XOXO
Aimee

Time.

{ I posted this on my photography blog and wanted to post it her as well }

Time Away
&
Time for Change

This summer I decided to take a break away from my little photography business to just be a mom. I did not want to miss out on summer vacation with my precious girls. As much as I love photography and I feel blessed by how my business has taken off I value my time with my family more.

I am in the process of making a decision about what direction I want to go in this fall. My top priority is to be there for my family. I do not want to miss out on anything and I do not want to feel guilty when I am at soccer games, ballet, working in their classrooms etc.  I am trying to find a balance between being a mom and a wife and my photography business. My biggest decision right now is to either keep my photography as just a hobby or to take only a very limited number of sessions each month. This is a difficult decision for me but yet a very simple one at the same time. Either way I will be scaling back. I just cannot give the attention to my family that I want to when I have photo sessions that need to be edited and people waiting on me. I love each and every one on my clients and I feel blessed that I have had the amazing opportunity to work with them and fulfill my dreams. My love for photography will never die and I will never fully retire from it. However, my my girls childhood will not pause but my work schedule can. Time is something that you cannot get back and it goes by faster than what I am comfortable with. I only have a limited amount of time to enjoy my girls childhood and I do not want to miss out on one second of that. I want to make lunches, fold their little socks, bake cookies, drive on field trips, ride bikes, work on crafts, snuggle, play, make forts and just enjoy watching them grow with my full attention. I am praying for God’s guidance in this decision and I already know that my most important job and responsibility in this world is being a mommy to my girls.

XO

My Baby Girl is EIGHT

WOW! Where in the world does time go? I cannot believe that my first baby girl just turned 8.

I could not be more proud of Kinley. God really blessed us with the most amazing little girls.
This year Kin did not want a big party so we did something on a smaller scale that fits her personality much better.  We went over many different options for a party but Kinley choose to have  a small limo party. She was only able to invite a few close friends this year. The girls drove around in the limo listening to music and then the limo took them out for pizza and ice cream. In my next post I will share some photos from her party.

Below are photos of my sweet girl from birth until now. As I was going through the photos it brought up so many emotions. I am not at all ready for her to grow up so fast.

Family Vaction

Our family was blessed with the most amazing vacation! My father-in-law took us on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas. We got to see and do so many wonderful things. Our trip started out with a week in Orlando where we went to Disney World, Animal Kingdom, Discovery Cove and Sea World.

At Discovery Cove I did the dolphin encounter with Kinley,  Hadley and my niece Kelli.  We were able to touch, kiss and ride on a dolphin. It was an experience that I will never forget. When we went to Sea World we did a behind the scenes tour with the penguins which was planned especially for Kinley.  We were able to feed and pet the penguins. I am so happy that we were able to do this, Kinley is still talking about it!

The entire trip was amazing. The water in the Bahamas was the most beautiful blue that I have ever seen and the Disney Dream ship that we sailed on was over the top fabulous! My only regret from our vacation was that I did not capture as many photos as I would have liked to. I primarily used my point and shoot and my cell phone as I did not want my photography obsession to get in the way of our memories and being in the moment.

Thank You So much Papa for blessing our family with this truly wonderful vacation, I love you so much!!!
