Blog Under Construction

I am long past due for giving my blog it’s one unique design. It is funny how as I web designer I have gone so long without creating a design for my blog. Anyway, the time has come and it is in the works. This week I will be launching a brand new look.  If you are looking at the current design with the little church and birdie that is a temporary and it will be replaced! I designed it a long time ago and my love affair with it is over.

Busy… Busy… Busy

Sometimes or should I same most of the time my life seems so busy that I do not know how I am ever going to get everything done! I had a great weekend but I got nothing accomplished. Tonight I have been playing catch up by doing loads of laundry, paying bills and trying to clean the house. You would think that as a work at home mom I would have this all mastered by now but I am not even close to having any type of consistent plan down. I am a fly by the seat of my pants gal. I like to be spontaneous and that often leads to me dashing off to do things that sound much more fun then household chores! I honestly cannot find enough time in my days to get everything done. With two little ones and two business to run my time gets taken up pretty fast. Now I also have Team in Training,my photography classes, my blogs and my girls activities. BUSY!!

Here is a brief overview of my fun and busy weekend. On Saturday morning I ran 4 miles along East Cliff with Team in Training. I was so excited that the only time that I slowed down was at the water stop. After recovering from injured knees I was ecstatic that I was able to run 4 miles without stopping in under an hour. This coming weekend we have a six mile run so my goal for that is the same…do not stop, keep running!

After my run I went over to San Jose for a girls shopping day with my mom and my sister. This is one of my most favorite things to do and we had a great day. I Love shopping!!

On Sunday morning I took some family photos for my friend Christy and after that we had a family day at Highlands Park with my sisters famly and of course Grandma. The kids had a total blast. We took a picnic and hung out at the playground and then we went down to this little beach that was on the river and the kiddos played for hours.

Who am I

I hope that you will take the time to watch this amazing and touching video. This is my favorite song!! Every time that I watch it I cannot help but to tear up. Life has been very challenging for me and for my family this past year. At times I feel so lost and I am just not sure what to do.

Everyday I find my strength and happines through the Lord. He gives me hope for today and tomorrow.

With God all things are possible.   Mark 10:27

Mouth Guards

This morning I read my daily email from Family Life and it struck a strong chord with me because the topic is something that I struggle with and pray about daily. I want to be the best parent that I can be and I think that one of the first steps in doing so is recognizing and being accountable for our own short comings. In an effort to continue to work on being a better parent I am posting this enlightening reminder on my blog. I want to be the best mommy ever but being a great mom means that you should always be working on your parenting and trying to better yourself. I really need to clean up my language as I curse way to often and it is not appropriate nor is it very classy. I am going to continue to pray about my bad language and work diligently on charging it.

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life.
Proverbs 10:11

It didn’t happen often. I only remember hearing it on a couple of occasions. But I guarantee you that in those rare moments when my father let loose with a foul word, it made a deep impression on me. It shocked and surprised me.

He was a man of few words. And even fewer foul words or disrespectful words. I doubt that I heard him use 10 curse words my entire life. And over the 46 years of his marriage, I never recall hearing him speak harshly to my mother even once.

I guarantee you, your children are watching. And listening.

If you hope to control the wild tongues in your family, you must first clean up the words that flow from your own. The way you speak to each other, and to your children, must set the course. If you speak respectfully to one another, you can reasonably expect your children to do the same.

What kind of boundaries have you chosen to set on your speech? Cursing is clearly wrong, of course, but what about slang words that are right on the edge of foul language? What about other toxins of the tongue, like gossiping and criticizing people behind their backs?

Do your children hear you using unwholesome speech to describe your neighbors or coworkers? What comments do they hear you making about your boss, your pastor or your political leaders? What do you say when somebody cuts you off in traffic or dumps trash in your yard? Do you obey God’s commandment to honor your parents, or do you grumble about the burden they’ve become?

Never forget that mutual respect is the foundation of all healthy relationships. The way we relate to each other as a couple is the best model for helping children learn the pleasing use of the tongue.

Discuss
How would your children describe the model you are setting in your home of your vocabulary and how you speak to one another?

Pray

Pray that the meditation of your heart and the words of your mouth will be acceptable in the sight of God.
