Committed to the Challenge

This week I went to the Team in Training meeting and was able to meet the coaches, mentors and some of my team members. I am so excited and a little nervous too. My goal was to just sign-up to be on the walk team but I was given such a hard time about walking that I hesitantly signed up to be on the run team, thanks a lot Reggie! They have promised me that after four months of training for 6 days a week that it will be ready to run 13.1 miles, I can only pray that is true.

I have been sticking to my training and getting up every morning at 6:00 a.m for my workouts. I have been feeling really exhausted these past few days, mainly because I stay up until midnight and I know that my body needs more sleep than that! I will be working out with the TIT coaches and team members twice a week and then doing buddy trainings 4 days week. I just hope that by the end of this that I fit into my size 2 jeans again!!

I will be posting here often about my journey with Team in Training as well as I will post my fundraising web page soon. I still cannot believe that I am signed up to run a half marathon.  I am very determined to do this and I am really excited that Reggie and I are doing it together, I am up for the challenge!

This event is about more than just my husband and I running a half marathon.  We are training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, blood cancers and myeloma from taking more lives.

I’m completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers and in honor of many people that I personally know that have been affected by cancer and to those who I have loved so dearly that lost the fight against this terrible disease.

One Big Happy Family

I feel so blessed that I have such a wonderful family. Not only do I think that my kids are the best but I also have a great husband . My Mom and my sister Becca are my best friends in the world and we actually choose to spend most of our free time together. I love them more than I could ever express. I realize that it is not all that common to love your family so much that you want to be with them all the time but I honestly do. I love that I have a large family and that my children have tons of cousins and are extremely close to their grandparents. My Dad is the greatest. He is totally funny, loving and and just an all around great person!! I love our big fat crazy family dinners that we try to have often. There is never a dull moment when you get 23 people together to have dinner. This post is some what of a ramble but I really wanted to express my genuine love that I have for the most iimportant people in my life.

Here are some family photos from our weekend.

Mommy’s Little Models

What fun would it be to own an online children’s boutique and not use my daughters as models. Today we did a little photo shoot for some adorable hooded towels that we sell at Pink Taffy Designs and fun is not the first word that comes to mind when I reflect back on trying to take their pictures. They may look adorable in the photos but they do not behave so sweetly when we are trying to get them to pose. Behind the scenes there is a lot of yelling, pushing, hitting , crying and all around sisterly love going on. With all the crazy chaos we still managed to get a good photo.

I Love my Girls and as we say to eachother “No, I Love You Forever!”

Summer Days

My reluctant move to Aptos has become a total blessing for me. I love waking up to the beautiful sunshine and the ocean air. I have started my workouts for Team in Training and I have been getting up at 6:00 a.m. to run on the beach with my dog for an hour. As hard as it is to initially get up in the morning once I get out there it is so peaceful. Being on the beach early in the morning and watching the sunrise is just a great way to start the day. I love that I can walk out my front door and head down to the beach. I also love that I can walk to the club and  to swim laps. I have been trying to swim laps when I get a chance. I was a competitive swimmer growing up so it is great to be back in the water.
Moving back to Scotts Valley is seeming less and less appealing to me. I honestly do not miss the extremely hot summers in Scotts Valley and I am loving the cool breeze that Aptos brings at the end of each day. I really  have not missed much about Scotts Valley at all. It is just such a treat that we can walk to the beach, the pool, my favorite restaurant and the coffee shop. The girls love walking to the coffee shop in the mornings to get hot chocolate and I rarely need to get in my car anymore since all of our activities are within walking distance. I believe that everything happens for a reason and our move to Aptos has been one of the best things that has happened to our family in a long time!

4th of July 2008

I am finally making my post for the 4th of July. I have been so busy this past week that my blogging took a back seat.

Our family had a great 4th of July weekend. The sun was shining and we enjoyed the outdoors as much as we possibly could. On Friday we went to a fantastic 4th of July party at my cousins house. The girls had an absolute blast swimming in the pool and playing on the swing set. I think that they had the most fun making thier own snow cones.

That evening we were so exhausted. we wanted to stroll down to the beach to watch the fireworks but the littlest member of our family, Miss Hadley, was sound asleep. So instead of watching the fireworks at the beach we watched them out our window and it was an amazing show!!

On Thursday I took the girls to get their nails painted for the party, they were so excited. Take a look at the photos below.
