I Cannot Bake

Last night I took on Hadley’s challenge for me to bake her a pink birthday cake. Now baking is not at all my forte so when I went to the store to buy the cake mix I made sure to get an extra box just in case I screwed up the first cake. I am so glad that I went with my instincts! Within five minutes of putting that cake in the oven I could smell something burning. I could not figure out how the cake could be burning so soon? Perhaps the photos below will clue you in on that one.

I am so glad that I bought that second box of cake mix. Who know that you were not supposed to put the entire box of cake batter into a 9 inch cake pan?

I Hate Bugs!

Yesterday we took Kinley and Hadley to the club to go swimming. Upon leaving Kinley finds this little rolly polly bug that she claims is her new friend that must go home with us. I am not at all a fan of bugs or insects of any kind and I really wanted her to leave it where she found it. I finally agreed to let her carry it home as long as she put it in the yard when we got there. As we are walking home Reggie tells the girls that we can go to the store and get the bug a home. I am thinking great, now the bug will be living in my house. The girls are now very excited that Daddy is going to get this bug a home and he also offered to find Hadley her very own bug.

Within 15 minutes we  are taking the girls and their bugs to Target to get them a little insect habitat. By the time we got back home both bugs had been lost in my car, yes that’s right I now have two rolly polly bugs roaming around in my car and it is all my husbands fault!! Did I mention that I hate bugs!!

As I am talking with Hadley about her lost bug in my car and telling her that Mommy is not happy because I do not like bugs she says to me “but Mommy, when you were a little boy you liked bugs”, I am like, what the hell, when was I ever a little boy? That girl says that most crazy things. Does she honestly think that I was a boy at some time in my life? I seriously cannot believe the things that she comes up with. She is very unique for sure!

I was going to post a picture of a rolly polly bug up here but I just cannot put a bug on my blog!

Kim - OMG! I was just laughing so hard! I am so tired and exhausted and I was just cracking up. I haven’t laughed like that in a long time! Thanks for the laugh, I needed it! I can vouch for you, that you were a girl in High School, but prior to that I have no idea. You should submit that story to the Readers Digest “Kids Say the Funniest Things! I think they pay a hundred or more if they print your story!

P.S. I have never heard of anyone being afraid of rollie pollies. I am deathly afraid of spiders, and they don’t even bother me. You are a rare breed!!! LOL!

Ear Piercing

When it comes to piercing my little girls ears I had always said that I would do it when they were ready and wanted to have their ears pierced. There have been a few occasions when we were at the mall and they told me that wanted to get their ears pierced. Each time I would take them to look at the earrings and explain to them that it would hurt and that it was their choice. Each time the would burst out crying when I would say this and we would quickly leave the store.

This morning Kinley and Hadley were playing in their bedroom and they came out together and told me that they wanted to get their ears pierced. I did not take them very seriously because I thought that once I explained to them again that it would hurt that they would quickly change their minds.  For some odd reason toady was very different, they were both adamant about it even after I told them that it would hurt like a shot.

After lots of begging Reggie and I decide to take the to the mall thinking that it would only be a waste of time and that the girls would back out as soon as we got their. When we went into the store they were so excited to pick out their earrings. Kinley of course picked out cute little pink flowers and Hadley pick out cute clear diamond colored flowers. We decided that Kinley would go first and that Reggie would take Hadley to the play area and then bring her back so that she did not get tramatized by watching Kinley.

Kinley climed up into the chair and she was so excited, I on the other hand was so nervous! I could not believe how calm my typically nervous Nelly seemed. Kinley is usually scared of her own shadow, so this was a different side to her that I usually do not see. I had called ahead of time to make sure that they would be able to pierce both ears at the same time as I did not want to get one ear done and then have them refuse to do the other. As they pierced Kinely’s ears I was just waiting for her to start screaming and crying but she totally amazed me as she sat their with a huge smile on her face. The girl did not so much as flinch, I could not believe it. She was so excited and I was so proud of her!!

When it was Hadley’s turn to get her ears pierced we had Daddy hold her. She was super brave but had a very serious look on her face. After they pierced Hadley’s ears she let out a scream and cried for about two minutes. As soon as they gave her a sucker she was totally fine and was very proud of her new earrings. I still cannot believe that they did it!

They look so cute!!

Reggie ( Aka... Daddy) - Well, I can honestly say I wasn’t ready for my little girls to get their ears peirced. I think I want them to stay little girls forever…. but I was so proud to see them both sit there and get their ears peirced. They were afraid, but they did it anyway. What wonderful and brave little princesses I have as daughters. Couldn’t be a prouder father, and they look so cute. I love them soooooooo much….. Daddy

Sunny Days

My girls and I have really been enjoying the sunshine this past week. We have been loving that we can walk to the beach, the park and especially the pool. We have been spending a lot of time at the pool with our friends. Yesterday Kinley started swimming without her water floatys and she was so proud of herself.  I am excited for the summer as I know that we are going to have so much fun!!

Kinley & Hadley also got a really cool new lemonade cart (from Pink Taffy Designs, of course!) that they have been having so much fun with. They have been making their dad and I lots of yummy lemonade!! I Love them SO MUCH!!!

Sarah - You have such a beautiful family.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Last week Kinley had her first filed trip with her preschool class. They went to the park for an adorable Teddy Bear Picnic. I know that it may sound corny to some but this is honestly the stuff that I live for. Being a mom and going with my daughter on her school field trip is so much fun for me. I love being involved in my daughters lives.

During the picnic the children got to toss water balloons at their teachers but Kinley refused to throw hers. She is just so sweet by nature and she did not feel comfortable throwing a water balloon at her teachers. She was finally convinced to throw it but she choose to just toss it at the ground. I just love how sweet she is!!!

We had a great time togther at her teddy bear picnic. Kinley took her favoroite Sunshine Care Bear.

They Grow Up So Fast

I can hardly believe that my baby girl is going to be 3 years old this month. They really do just grow up too fast.

My girls are just so much fun. I love watching them grow everyday. They both have their very own and unique personalities. We have been planning Hadley’s birthday party and it just amazes how many opinions she has at three years old about what kind of a party she wants. Hadley told me that she wanted a “roller skating rainbow party” now this is coming for a little girl that has never been roller skating before and I have no idea where they rainbow action came from. I told Hadley that we would have to go try roller skating first to see if she liked it. So last weekend we took her and Kinley roller skating and they both loved it. I was amazed at how fast they picked it up. Both girls started out with their wheels tightened but by the end they were almost all the way loose and were roller skating around the rink. I am so proud of them!!!
